I'm Ready to Run
This weekend I’ll be running my second race, the Traverse City Bayshore Half Marathon. I can’t imagine there’s a more beautiful course out there, as this one winds it way along the East arm of Grand Traverse Bay.
My goal is 8:30/mile, which would be a finish time of 1:51:20.
The All-New Touchscreen Nook
$139 and a complete touchscreen using E Ink display technology.
How long until Amazon returns the volley?
Tulip Time. This iconic festival represents so much of what I love about living in west Michigan. I look forward to it each and every year.
To Read: 'My Lucky Life In and Out of Show Business: A Memoir'
Dick Van Dyke’s memoir [affiliate link], just released this month. I can’t wait to read it.
Currently Reading: ‘Today We Are Rich’ by Tim Sanders
I received a copy of Tim Sanders’ book, Today We Are Rich [affiliate link] from a contest that Michael Hyatt ran on his blog a couple weeks ago. I first became aware of this book from Tim’s appearance on The Dave Ramsey Show.
I’m loving this book so far. I’ve already been challenged to be more mindful of my thought life, to be generous in my attitude and giving, and to have gratitude for all with which I’ve been blessed. The effects of these changes have been almost immediate for me.
Look for a more thorough review from me when I’m done with the book!
On Cloud 9
Apple is signing cloud music deals left and right! It’s looking more and more likely that we’ll see some kind of cloud media storage announced soon — I’m guessing it will be at WWDC. This is going to be a huge win for Apple.
What’s really interesting about this is that Apple has done “the right thing” and is securing licensing from the major labels. Amazon and Google have already announced similar products to what we’re expecting from Apple, but with no permission from the record industry.
I’m guessing Apple comes out on top (again) with this one.
Library or Coffee Shop? Or Both?
Seth Godin on what’s next for the modern library:
Wouldn’t you want to live and work and pay taxes in a town that had a library like that? The vibe of the best Brooklyn coffee shop combined with a passionate raconteur of information? There are one thousands things that could be done in a place like this, all built around one mission: take the world of data, combine it with the people in this community and create value.
MacGyver and Netflix… It's the 80s All Over Again
I remember trying to download episodes of MacGyver off FTP sites in the early 2000s, just for the nostalgia. What a mess that was.
Now… boom! All 139 episodes are here in their cheesy, but excellent 80s glory. MacGyver was the best.
BankSimple: We Have Cards
I need to write a more thorough post about BankSimple, but this is really exciting. Have a look around the site — this is going to be good.
Maybe the Word 'Magical' Is Appropriate, After All
Seth Godin:
But one reason for our ennui as technology hounds is that we’re missing the feeling that was delivered to us daily for a decade or more. It’s not that there’s no new technology to come (there is, certainly). It’s that many of us can already imagine it.
